ABOUT jESSICA

Jessica is the co-founder and director of ACT 3 Ballet. Born in Sydney, Jess started ballet, jazz and tap at the age of 3 at her local studio. Jess went on to gain a scholarship at SCECGS Redlands and her school days consisted heavily of ballet and academic studies under John Byrne. She then went on to train at Alegria studios in Surry Hills under Hillary Kaplan and began full time training at the age of 15. Completing school via distance education, Jess was invited to compete in many international competitions such as the Prix De Lausanne in Switzerland. Jessica was offered scholarships and places at many international ballet schools and accepted a scholarship and position at The Royal Ballet School in 2007. Whilst at The Royal Ballet School Jess performed in numerous performances with The Royal Ballet and The Birmingham Royal Ballet. Jessica was then offered a contact in 2009 with The Australian Ballet under the direction of David McAllister. Jess performed multiple soloist and corps de ballet roles around Australia and internationally, doing approximately 2600 performances with The Australian Ballet. Whilst performing with The Australian Ballet Jess obtained a “Professional Dancers Post Graduate Teaching Certification Certificate” from The Royal Academy of Dance whilst studying a Bachelor Of Communications majoring in Public Relations. Jess retired from The Australian Ballet in 2021 and has been teaching across Melbourne and Byron Bay since. Jess is passionate about students’ well-being, positive environments and psychology, Pilates, anatomical knowledge and injury prevention. Jess is keen to pass on her wealth of knowledge to the younger generation of dancers and making her sessions an enjoyable experience to bring out the best in the dancer
